5K 1 of 2! Get In Gear Minneapolis

This morning I ran my first 5K.  There is an annual race at Minnehaha in Minneapolis every spring, and this year some of the MOPS moms decided to run it together.  We all finished!  That was the goal for most of us “rookies”.  Unfortunately, this spring was not the best for training in (even though I got a jogging stroller just for training with Brayden), and the morning of the run pretty much summed up our spring in Minnesota.  We all had garbage bags on for most of the race, pretty funny sight!  My stats for the race are below, it’s all official:

Next weekend, I run my 2nd 5K, this time with my brother, and then later that morning we will walk the same 5K (crazy, huh?) with our family in honor of my mom’s triumph over breast cancer.

I think we may be a bit overdoing it with the toys for B lately.  Daddy insisted that he needed a Ride-on toy, so we found this little hole-in-the-wall store with cheap ride-on toys....and came home with a tractor for the little guy!  He's just about tall enough to drive it himself, I'm sure he will figure it out in no time at all though.

Birthday Parties

Happy Birthday to our cousins Ellison & Beckham!  Ellison turned 4 (she was just a baby at our wedding!) and Beckham turned 1!  The cousins had so much fun together, we’re so thankful for cousins within the same age of Brayden, and that live nearby.

Busy as a B!

So far my resolution to update my blog has failed miserably, and won't get much better for another month or so. For now, I'll just give a little update:
~I went back to work part-time in January and B started daycare, which he LOVES!
~We took a family vacay to Mexico in February (will post pics later). B & his cousins had so much fun together in the pool.
~In March we started swim lessons for B. Of course he loves the water! It's hard to keep him in my arms during the lesson, but he is learning lots (as is Mommy!).

Despicable Me

It looks like we have created a monster! B loves watching Despicable Me on his new portable DVD player that we got for him for our Mexico trip. The problem is that now when he sees the player anywhere in the house he wants to watch it right then! Silly boy! Hope it works good on the plane as it does at home!

Uff da!

So it has been quite a while since my last blog entry! My New Year resolution is to update more frequently, like every other week hopefully. While I work on my entries for the last two months, here is a pic of Daddy & B watching the football game.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas…

We have had quite the snowy winter so far, broken a few records as well.  It has been another whirlwind Christmas this year. 

To start out the weekend, Chris & I went out with friends and left Brayden with Grandma & Grandpa W for the night.  It was very weird to not have him at home, but he did great for them!  Plus, we had a lot of fun with our friends, which we haven’t been able to do for quite some time.  Date nights are pretty hard to come by lately!  Although, we have had some very fun times with the little guy.  As you can see from the pictures below, we had a couple of nights of present opening, just couldn’t limit it to one!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Grandma W gave each set of grandkids the Little People Nativity Set this year, and kept one for her house as well.  I actually found them at Target, so before I delivered them, Brayden wanted to open them ALL!  We managed to hold him to only one set for himself.

 

Christmas Eve was spent with my family here in MN.  We opened presents very early this year because of the kiddos.  Brayden loved opening everybody’s presents, and all of the cousins were playing with each other’s toys.  Chris made Annika a doll crib, which she adored.  Brayden received a recliner which all of the kids wanted to sit on.  Madalyn was in heaven with her dolls…that Brayden wanted to play with too!  Then we dressed up everyone and headed to church for the Christmas Eve service.  We decided to keep Brayden with us, but he only lasted about half of the service and then had to go run!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Christmas Day we got up bright and early and headed to WI to Grandma & Grandpa S’s house.  Brayden pretty much slept the whole trip, which was nice, no stops!  We opened more presents…well Brayden opened everyone’s presents at least.  It was fun to see Aunt Kim & Uncle Tim and Aunt April & Uncle Evan, we don’t get to see them enough!  On Sunday, we went down to Great Grandma Connie’s for lunch to see more family.  Monday, Brayden, Grandma & I met with my college roommate Julie and her little guy Joe.  Joe is just a couple months younger than Brayden.  It was so great to see them!  Some day those little boys will have fun together!

 

 

 

 

Happy Birthday Mommy!

For my birthday present this year, I got snow, lots and lots of snow, which meant we were snowed in for the day, literally.  Luckily, I had a very happy little boy and an amazing husband to spend it with!  It makes the last year in my twenties much easier to handle.
